Our house is situated at the end of a tranquil cul de sac named Impasse du Pont Pinard just a stroll across the river from the pink granite terraces and castle ramparts, and is easy walking distance to the friendly town centre of cafes, restaurants, shops... and delightful bakeries!
The two storey house is a lovely example of traditional medieval architecture, constructed from local stone and hand-hewn oak beams harvested from the ancient forests of Northern Europe. The interior has been recently renovated by local artisans and decorated to accent original architectural details, such as interior stone walls, stone supports and oak beams, solid wood doors, and the original 400 year-old staircase. Natural materials, warm colors and colorful vintage fabrics are used throughout the house, providing a calm refuge after your day's cultural adventures or artistic endeavors.
The French country kitchen and the salon welcome you on the first floor. The spiraling stair case leads up past the split bath with shower to the two bedrooms on the second floor, both with vintage queen beds. At the top of the stairs is a cozy nook with a day bed. The house comfortably sleeps four and can accommodate five or six companionable travelers.
A short stroll along the river leads to the private car garage and stone walled vineyard, sunny patio, cherry, apple & pear orchard, berry bushes, flowers, picnic area and spectacular panoramic views.
The front door opens to a sunny large eat-in, self catering kitchen with a high, exposed oak beamed ceiling, traditional tiled floor, accents of copper, wood cabinets, an antique oak hutch stocked with linens and utensils, all complimented with modern appliances, including a full-sized sink, electric stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker and ample-sized refrigerator for your convenience. The cupboard is nicely stocked with glassware, dishes and cooking supplies. A stackable washer/dryer is handily near the bathroom for your use while on holiday.
The kitchen comfortably seats six. Modern lighting, electricity, and plumbing has been added throughout the house, which is heated with hydronic radiators in each room.
